Distinguished and Famous people from Carrum Downs
⚓ Laurie Pegler
Carrum Downs resident Laurie Pegler received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2025 for service to veterans' welfare. A former Royal Australian Navy member, he developed websites and supported newsletters for naval organisations, helping keep their members connected and their histories accessible. His service also included volunteering with the Seaford RSL, where he had been a member since 1984, and helping the Peninsula Ostomy Association's distribution work. His recognition reflects the less visible organisational and communications work that allows community and veterans' groups to function.
